Joseph H. Nivin, Esq.

Mr. Nivin was admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York on March 26, 2008. He is also admitted to practice before the courts of the State of Connecticut, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

He received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in June 2007, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2004. After graduation from law school, he worked as an attorney intern at the Administration for Children’s Services of the City of New York from September 2007 to March 26, 2008, and subsequently as an attorney for the same agency from March 26, 2008 until December 10, 2010.

Since December 13, 2010, he has engaged in private practice, focusing almost exclusively on the fields of family and matrimonial law. He was a member of the Assigned Counsel/Attorneys for Children Panel for Queens Family Court from March 2011 through the end of December 2017, and he served on the Appellate Panel from 2014 to 2019. He serves as a member of the Queens County Bar Association Family Law Committee, and he is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and New York City Bar Association.

For 2017-2018, he served on the Board of Directors for the Brandeis Association of Queens County. He was named to the Rising Stars list in Super Lawyers magazine every year from 2015 to 2022, and to the Super Lawyers list from 2023 to 2025.
